King's Birthday

October 06, 2025

It’s been a productive and creative month, with progress across several fronts of design, writing, and coding. On the adventure-building side, work continued on Vareth’s Pinnacle: Ascent into Madness, expanding the lower levels of the Netherese ruin and refining the narrative connections between the Outer Courtyard, Subterranean Vault, Arcane Observatory, and Pinnacle Chamber. The team of heroes now faces both environmental and narrative choices that deepen the sense of discovery, while the newly introduced Netherese soul-binding crystal adds a potent moral dilemma. At the same time, we’ve been fine-tuning several other story modules. The Selûnite Temple storyline gained the eerie Lunar Sanctum, a hidden room that appears only when moonlight filters through the stained glass window. The flooded crypt beneath the temple now features a Large Grey Ooze, adding tension and tactical variety. These encounters complement earlier developments in The Lizard Marsh, maintaining a strong link between mystery, exploration, and the dangerous beauty of forgotten places.

On the technical side, Foundry VTT development has been in full swing. We’ve refined scripts for region behaviours, token placement, and utility integration via fm-utils. New functions improve how modules handle assets, automate GM tasks, and ensure consistent interaction between scenes. Debugging sessions this month solved issues around createEmbeddedDocuments, event duplication from Assistant GMs, and texture management for spritesheets — all pushing toward smoother, more maintainable module design.

Meanwhile, in SwiftUI, development on macOS tools like FolderFolio and related utilities continued, with a focus on performance, concurrency, and better handling of folder monitoring and metadata. The past month also saw refinements to UI behaviour, toggle state management, and data updates — tightening the link between creative and technical workflows. Overall, September has been a satisfying blend of narrative design, system building, and creative expansion, setting up a strong foundation for the next phase of both story and tool development.
